FaMILY CARD GAMES
FamilyCardGames is for playing card games with friends and family. One person acts as the host, with players then joining using their phones. The site is entirely free. No cost. No ads either. No data is collected - other than a valid email address to host.
The site was put together to re-create the family and friends card game nights but in an online version with everyone on their phones. Useful too if you're away without any cards.
It is free but please support me here.

To get things going the host needs a game code. This is the unique code for their game. Players then join on their phones by either entering the game code or via the QR code provided by the host or other players.
To get a game code select one of the "hosting" options:
HOST & SCREEN SHARE - this is the screen sharing version. Best on a device with a full screen. The host can also join as a player separately on their phone.
HOST & PLAY - this is the phone version. The host can host and play at the time. They see extra "hosting' options to control the game and deal etc.
JOIN - to join as a card player on a phone or other device. Supports up to 10 players.
The site essentially is a generic card dealing application that can be used to play cards games like poker, whist, cribbage, rummy, pontoon etc.
Each player plays their cards from their mobile device on to the card table. Doing a video conference or shared audio with players can make it more fun.
The site includes features to support different types of card games. Including:
-
lay cards either face up (such as for whist) or face down (e.g. for poker chucking away). Lay by the player's name (such as for cribbage or pontoon) or into the centre of the card table (such as for rummy or jack-change-it).
-
a separate dealer's hand (such as for seven-card-stud-poker, cribbage or pontoon).
-
scoring, betting, lives (such as to score for cribbage, betting for poker, lives for games such as fives/chase the ace). The host controls who then wins / loses or has their credits returned.
-
dealing up to 13 cards each or dealing extra cards and controlling who get dealt cards. Sometime you'll want only specific people to get dealt (such as with Knock-Out-Whist where players that fail to win a trick do not go through to the next round).
-
enforcing whose go it is, either automatically based on laying a card, or manually (the host controls whose go it is, such as where a player has multiple pick ups / lays), or not at all (so anyone can lay at any time);
-
betting or playing for credits (such as betting in poker).
-
turning over the top card of the deck (such as when playing the first round of trumps or for cribbage);
-
enabling a player to pick a card from the deck / table (e.g for rummy) or pickup all their cards previously laid (such as for Cribbage) or showing their hand to everyone (such as for poker)
You can also send messages within the game. Useful if players are remote and you're not doing a group conference call. There are limitations. It's not possible to play card games where the cards have to be laid on the table in a specific way. Such as Sevens or Solo Whist.
Please get in touch if there are things that would make the game better or any feedback.
